About the event
Africa Day. Africa Day (formerly African Freedom Day and African Liberation Day) is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963. It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world. The organisation was transformed into the African Union on 9 July 2002
It commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) on this day in 1963. While the day is celebrated across the continent, it is observed as an official national holiday in Ghana, The Gambia, Guinea, Namibia, Zambia, Mali, Mauritania, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
BFEG has being officialy celebrating African Festival and Afric Day in Greenwich since May 2019. With growing number of African community in Greenwich BFEG in Partnership with Nigerian Community Greenwich , Congolese, Ghana, Senegal-Gambia Women association and Republic of Benin has collectively use their expertise and local experience to…
